Key West mayor, and fourth generation Conch, Craig Cates endorses Teri Johnston. “I support Teri as Key West’s next mayor,” says Cates, who has held the office of Mayor since 2009. “I’ve worked with her for many years now, and I know that she wants what’s best for Key West. And she’ll work tirelessly to do what’s right for our town.”
The Key West Citizen says of Teri Johnston: As a former commissioner, Johnston has the background, the demeanor and the knowledge to be a successful city leader. Her stated objectives, including cleaning up Duval Street, working on quality-of-life issues for residents, and for creating a plan and a vision for the city, makes her the front-runner. As she has raised the most in campaign contributions, she apparently has a strong base of support in the community as well. We also appreciated her more-measured stance toward tackling the affordable housing issue.
